Buckhorn Weston lies on the fringes of the Blackmore Vale, an area much loved and vividly depicted by Thomas Hardy. This is quintessential rural England with gentle rolling pastures, patchwork fields and hidden hamlets. Buckhorn Weston is an ideal base for walkers, riders and cyclists wishing to explore this beautiful region. Maps, wellies, and picnics can be provided.

The historic town of Shaftesbury lies 9 miles East of Buckhorn Weston. It's an idyllic small town, offering centuries of history, stunning views over three counties and some interesting shops. And don't forget to take a stroll down the famous Gold Hill (think Hovis bread ad!) with its steep cobbles and picturesque cottages.

Take the A30 West to get to Sherborne (11 miles)- the ancient capital of Dorset. Its Castles, Abbey and boutique shops are well worth a visit.

Other nearby attractions include Wincanton Racecourse, Longleat Safari Park and the National Trust property of Stourhead.

Dorset's Jurassic coast, a world heritage site is also just a 50 minute drive across the rolling Dorset Downs.
